Prompt: Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

 Prompt Response: One adventure that I would like to go on would be hiking in the swiss mountains. I like the swiss mountains because they are great for skiing and the lakes there are so blue. I've never been to Europe as well so I feel like it would be a cool adventure to embark on. That is a brief description of one adventure I would like to go on.


Summary: Today we looked over Emma Dickinson's work and poems. We also analyzed the poem and started to make a heart infographic about the logic and emotion.


Reflection: I learned the background information about Emma Dickinson. I also learned how to deeply analyze the poem by reading with a purpose.

 Prompt Response: I remember hearing the word brigand in a movie I watched a while ago. The characters mentioned it while they were traveling somewhere that seemed a little unsafe. They didn’t clearly explain what a brigand was, but the way they said it made it sound like someone to avoid. The scene showed them looking around nervously, which made me think the person was trouble. Even without a definition, I could tell it meant someone who might cause harm. Hearing the word used in that moment helped me understand it better than just reading it in class. Summary: We completed new vocabulary. Reflection: I learned new vocabulary words.

Prompt: Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

  Prompt Response:   One time, I was walking downtown with my friend when we passed a man sitting on the sidewalk with a cardboard sign. He looked tired and cold, and I could tell he had been out there for a while. He wasn’t asking for much, just a little help, but my first instinct was to feel a bit uneasy. At the same time, I felt bad for him because it’s hard to imagine being in that position, having to rely on strangers for anything. It made me realize how quickly things can change for anyone, and it left me thinking about how we often overlook people who are struggling, even if they’re right in front of us. Summary: We read a new part of a story.  Reflection:  I learned a new part of the story.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

 Prompt Response: Something I've always been curious about is living in space. Growing up, I would wonder how astronauts sleep, eat, and even walk around in space since it lacks gravity. I've watched them floating around in the space station on videos, and it just doesn't seem real. I imagine looking out the window and seeing Earth from above, and it would probably feel both amazing and a little scary. I’ve always thought about how different life would be up there and what it would feel like to leave everything behind and explore the unknown. It’s something that has always stuck in my mind and made me want to learn more about space. Summary: We completed a paragraph to argue for our claim that we made on Wednesday using evidence and reasoning. Reflection: I learned how to format a argumentative paragraph.
