Prompt: Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt Response:   My brain is sort of like a library that sometimes isn't quiet. Occasionally all the books are in order and I can grab the appropriate thought quickly. Other times it's as if a hurricane came through and all the pages are everywhere. It becomes too much, but I normally manage to put the pieces back together. Summary: We completed our heart drawings. Reflection:  I learned how to analyze a poem to create a visual that depicts 2 points of views in the story.

Prompt: Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

Prompt Response: One adventure that I would like to go on would be hiking in the swiss mountains. I like the swiss mountains because they are great for skiing and the lakes there are so blue. I've never been to Europe as well so I feel like it would be a cool adventure to embark on. That is a brief description of one adventure I would like to go on. Summary: Today we looked over Emma Dickinson's work and poems. We also analyzed the poem and started to make a heart infographic about the logic and emotion. Reflection: I learned the background information about Emma Dickinson. I also learned how to deeply analyze the poem by reading with a purpose.

Prompt: Describe something you will never fully understand.

Something that I will truly understand is how humans came to be on Earth. I understand that we evolved from apes, but to me, it doesn't make much sense how apes randomly changed into humans. I feel like it was so long ago that how don't even know how to believe what we are being told. There is no concrete evidence of how humans came to be, so I feel like I don't know what is true. That is one thing I will never fully understand.

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

Prompt Response: A couple of weeks ago, 2 of my friends and I decided that we wanted to make a potato launcher. We saw it on the internet and decided to try to build it. It took lots of trail and error but we ended up with our best prototype. There is a spark inside the tube which is where you put the high flammable hair spray. Then you close the top to keep oxygen in and click the trigger and Boom, the potato gets launched. It is easily the most creative thing I’ve ever made. Summary: Today in class, we worked on our origin myth graphic on Adobe express. We also completed our origin myth. Reflection: I learned how to use Adobe express for my visuals. I also learned how to use AI to create images from my project.

Prompt: Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

Prompt Response: One of my biggest questions that I have is whether Aliens are real. I think that they are real and have traveled to earth before, but the government isnt telling us. I feel like there isnt a clear answer and its so fascinating to me. Another question that I have is how the Earth was created and how us as people really came to be. I feel I never have been told how the earth was made and how life was formed on earth. Summary: Today we planed out or origin myths and started to write the myths. We are using prior knowledege about the myths we read to create our own storyline. Reflection: I learned how to craft and write an origin myth based off of myths that we read prior.

Describe a time you felt completely lost.

Prompt Response: One time when I felt completely lost was during a trip to Hilton Head. It was a cloudy day, too cold to go to the beach, so my friends and I decided to go on a bike ride around the island. We biked around for a while till we found a dirt bike path that led into the woods. Us being us, we decided to follow the bike path and see where it took us. It ended up being a blast with cool hills and sharp turns, but as we exited the trail, we were in the middle of an open field with only telephone poles around us. We dropped our bikes immediately and stood in shock. We had no Idea where we were. I thought that we would never make it back. We ended up following the telephone polls, and eventually, we made it out with no harm. Summary: Today, all we did was present our project about the Symbols in the Origin Myth, the jealous father. Reflection: I learned about different themes and different parts of the detting that I never thought of so deeply when I first read the myth.

Prompt: Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Prompt Response:  So far, I believe I have adapted well to the course's demands.  I have been able to keep up to date with my assignments and complete my work efficiently and with ease. One strength that I anticipate is my personal strength, which would be my work ethic. I believe that as the year goes on, our work is going to get harder and harder, which means I will have to work harder to get an A. I think that will be good for me because sometimes I do better when I am being challenged with my work. One challenge I anticipate is that with all of my other AP classes, it will be hard to juggle all of my work. With this class not being AP, I might not think it's as important.  Summary: Today in class, we took a quiz on myths. We read a myth and answered questions about it.  Reflection:  I learned how to use reading comprehension with myths and how to read for the answers in the text.

Prompt: Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt Response:  When I was a child, I recall taking a trip to San Diego, California. During that trip, it happened to be my sister's birthday while we were there. As her birthday rolled around, the presents came out, and she got an iPad. I had no electronics, so when my sister got that iPad, I was furious. I felt so jelous that I acted terribly for the rest of the trip. Summary: Today In class we Read the Jelous Father Story. Then we got into groups and worked on our power point over the symbols that were in the book. Reflection: I learned that sometime to really break down the text you have to read with a purpose. For example once we had our question I was able to read the story to find the symbols to help me answer the questions.

That house has so many bright memories that I could go on and on about. It was where I was raised and where I became who I am today. I no longer live in that house, I now live 20 minutes away. Although not all of my memories are washed away, there are still core memories that occurred in that house that will live with me forever. Summary: We went over the Navajo Myth and were able to Identify that it was a origin myth. With that text we also answer discussion questions about it. Reflection: I learned how to identify a origin myth to help me on my quiz. I also learned the story of the Navajo and how they found there perfect world.

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt:  Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths. Prompt Response:  I feel connected to nature when I go fishing. When going fishing, it flushes out my mind, and it's just me and nature. The feeling helps me stay grounded and makes me feel like I'm one with my environment around me. What I enjoy most about fishing is when you first hook into the fish and the rush of adrenaline that flows through your body. Specifically, when I hooked into a shark in Hilton Head. That specific moment made me feel the most connected to nature in my lifetime. Summary: To briefly summarize what we did today, I'd say we were introduced to American Literature.
